What is Blended Learning?

What is Blended Learning?

Blended learning is an approach that combines traditional teaching, a range of digital platforms, learning at school and also learning at home. There are three ways that blended learning could take place at the present time:

In school

Pupils are in school and learning in the usual way with teacher led activities covering all areas of learning experience: Maths and Numeracy, Language, Literacy and Communication, Expressive Arts, Health and Wellbeing, Science and Technology and Humanities. Pupils will be using a range of ICT platforms to support their learning across the curriculum. All homework is set through the ICT platforms.

At home and at school

School is open to pupils but some individual pupils may be self-isolating at home. Pupils will be given or posted out a work pack of activities designed to be completed independently which will reinforce previous skills taught in school. Pupils will also be able to access all their digital platforms to complete tasks and can work on Reading Eggs and Mathseeds (FP) and My Maths (KS2).

Class bubbles at home

If the class bubble has to self-isolate then work will be set daily on Class Dojo for FP and Google Classroom for KS2.
Teachers will post instructional videos, do live teaching and will be on hand between 9-3.15 to support learning. Pupils will use Google Meet with their teacher each day to talk together about their work, the day’s tasks and do wellbeing activities.
Pupils will be set daily differentiated Literacy and Numeracy activities and a further activity from another area of learning experience. The activities will involve using a range of digital platforms. If your require ICT kit or a mifi dongle please contact Mrs Llewellyn ([email protected]).
