This year, in our exam results, there were some excellent performances in a number of subjects including Art, Computing, PE, Music and RS. High achieving students also did particularly well this year in Computing, English, Geography, History, PE, Physics and Welsh.
There were some outstanding individual performances with a host of students gaining a number of A* and A grades. 23 students received 3 or more A and A* grades including English and Maths with exceptional performances by Jonathan Powell who achieved 5A* and 4 A grades; Georgia Watkins achieved 4 A* and 5 A grades; Molly Powell 4 A* and 2 A grades; Olivia Hoskins 4 A* and 2 A grades and Molly Powell 4 A* and 2 A grades.
‘As ever, students have worked incredibly hard and one can only admire the commitment and determination of those young people who manage to achieve high grades across such a broad range of disciplines. The governors and I would also like to thank our parents too – as they have been so supportive yet again throughout the long examination season.
Despite this, the overall 5A*-C including English and Maths benchmark figure fell this year to 43%, this is a matter of serious concern for the school which is committed to addressing the reasons for this and we will be working to exceed our target this year.
